Swank

Swank, S-wingk, Supungk of Pippi Longstocking?... or ... Swany, Swan?!…

In 1975, Mom bought a white and large house and set up a new wardrobe named "Swangk" on the first floor.
Six-year-old me grew up in a place that was like a fancy womb.

Swank, S-wink, Supungk of Pippi Longstocking? Swan, Swan?!
I whisper, putting my head on the lap of my elegant mother in her morning makeup and looking up at her.
She technically rolls up long eyelashes that resemble the legs of an insect or the tentacles of a plant with mascara.
Just then I saw the dance of countless butterflies, the calm wings of swans and the endless movement of the water.
I heard the sound of a light, light splash across the gentle and calm waterways.
And I drank such a white, strange, sun-dark splendor mixed in the morning air.

White and wide workbench with patterns and fabrics, scissors and chokes.
A book of paintings of classical Western art and paintings by Jang Dae-cheon.
Ionian plastering and white paint-painted columns.
Vogue and Non-No, a thick cloth sample book made of strawboard.
British checkered wool, Japanese linen and wavy silk.
A wooden cabinet decorated with mahogany-colored corinthians.
The oil paintings and easel and the white, long mannequins on the show window.
Midday scenery and mother's voice spreading through the window.
