Thinking of Hong, Ji-Yoon
Moving Ink Painting and Poem
|
|
I usually express free thoughts on nature and emotions come from my daily life through writings and paintings. My work is aimed at interpreting traditional emotions of the Orient with modern technology and images through ink paintings based on the concept of poetry/calligraphy/painting in Oriental fine arts, which considers that poetry, calligraphy, and painting have the same origin.
In particular, my ink painting image works depict a meaning in that a plain ink painting is transformed into a graphic image, that is, static space is developed into dynamic space in time.
Furthermore, my work suggests a new existence method of ink painting through the harmony of analogue and digital and ink painting and image media.
Through my ink painting image works, I suggest open and ongoing ink paintings that express current life and I hope this achieves coordination of the analogue and digital, hand-in-hand together, as is my objective.
I have researched ceaselessly how and in what way traditional oriental fine art can be reinterpreted through persistent exhibition and diverse domestic and overseas activities. Moreover, in the future, I will focus on new forms of work through meetings of other cultures of Europe in which tradition is highly respected.
1.
Ink painting + Digital :
Moving Ink Painting and Poem Hong Ji-Yoon's work that deals with Ink paintings and graphic images is based on free thinking about nature and recognizes the traditional concepts of Oriental painting.
Hong Ji-Yoon's work also truly and delicately express human sentiments and other sides of things of life and the flow of emotions that one may feel while living a life through the form of ink paintings and diary, or a poem. Those things are connected as one and become a moving picture - an animation.
Hong Ji-Yoon's work try to express feelings on life.
There are brilliant sadness and philosophical romance in the thinking about the life.
2.
The images of a ink painting for which the motive is a life become a new ink painting by representing a poem, calligraphy, and an ink picture on a paper with an ink brush, which was done so in many paintings painted by ancient aristocrats, in one space and in the form of a graphic image and text. Hong Ji-Yoon's work is an experiment on how the concept and expressive form of a traditional Oriental painting may be reinterpreted in present times. The ink painting images of Hong Ji-Yoon suggests an on-going and open ink painting, living a current life. I hope my ink painting animation will be a new classic that is easier and more popular with a warm harmony of analogue and digital expression through my exhibition. Further, I hope this will be remembered by you as one that comfortably approaches the hearts of the person living in contemporary time, sharing the pleasure with them, and making one another happy.
Artist Hong jiyoon
Beyond the questions regarding what relationship exists between ink paintings and
the graphic images and whether it is possible, her experiment shows casual progress
and has an attraction that overwhelms such questions.
Like her saying that "My animation ink painting gives the appearance
in which analogue and digital hold hands with each other."
we can hardly feel any awkwardness in her paintings¡¦¡¦..
What she is doing is basically traditional ink painting.
One different thing is just tha there is a programming process for her paintings
to the images.
The painter herself defined her trial as "It is a new experiment on the question
of how traditional ink paintings may be reinterpreted."¡¦¡¦¡¦
Hong Ji-Yoon's combining ink painting with image media is a greatly creative idea
and it may be another suggestion for the existence and manner of
ink paintings ¡¦¡¦¡¦
- Written by Kwang-soo Oh / Art Critics (Monthly Arts in Culture, April version 2005
/ Focus: Diverse experiments on media for Korean paintings.)
Jiyoon Hong's works start from the poetical inspiration. Her words are neither purely outward objects and exaggerated representation of real human world nor the pursuit of inward spirits, speculation, and philosophy. But it is just positive, romantic consideration and feeling and yearning and persistence toward the human world.
A kind of plentiful, young passion and imagination sinks into hers.
The expressions of depression, gloominess, and sorrow are even filled with the power of youthfulness, freedom and pleasure. The power is fully reflected with the words, handwritings for the words and pictures with handwritings. Then she puts rhythm into the works. ..........ontradictory Aesthetics ......The combination of words and paintings had started propriety to show in the exhibition, 2005 solo exhibition in Seoul Korea and 2006 project exhibition in Munich Germany, containing overlapped images of words and paintings.............ong's works is created with texts and images in the contradiction moreover, classical ink and contemporary colors exist in contradiction. Paper and media even make contradiction. The multilayered conflicts preferably make Hongjiyoon's fusion oriental paintings. Like most cultural forerunner in every areas.
